These two get confused most often. The line is simple.
Vibe Coding
Using AI to build products.
You are judged on what you shipped, how fast, and how well you directed the tools. Nobody counts how many lines you typed yourself.
Core AI
Building, training and deploying AI itself.
You are judged on engineering depth — evaluation, cost, latency, reliability. A thin wrapper over somebody else's API will not score well.
